I’d like to have eggs but they will be pets really. I had them when I was young. Great memories!Welcome to BYC! What are your reasons for wanting a flock? There are a lot of breeds with great personality and beautiful to look at, but not great egg layers. Then there are the egg layers! Lots to choose from there too!
Thanks for joining!
Beautiful! Lol it’s gonna be so hard to decide. I want to start with a few.... lol I have to keep telling myself that!Hello and welcome to BYC!Glad you joined.
Sometimes it's hard to choose one or two or even three breeds...

They are on my list to research. Do they do better with two of each type or can you raise several different types together as long as their size is similar? I’d love a silkie but I know they aren’t great for eggs. Thanks for the advise. Everyone has been so friendlyBeth, Beth Beth. You can't go wrong with Barred Rock chickens to start with. From baby chicks to 3 years old now, my 2 have given my flock a wonderful experience. Great brown egg layers as well.
