(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I grew up in Illinois, and was around chickens throughout my childhood and young adult life. Now, I live in a neighborhood in Columbia, SC. A much different setting than rural Illinois.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have nine chicks.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Mille de Fleur d’Uccles Bantams - (1) Two weeks old & (1) Five weeks old. (Hopefully both pullets.)
Black Cochin Frizzle Bantam - (1) Five week old that looks to be a cockerel.
Black Cochin Bantam (1) Same as Above
Gold Seabright- (1) Five weeks old, hoping a pullet.
Buff Brahma Bantam - (1) Five weeks old, and not sure about he/she.
OE Duckwing Bantam - (1) Five week old cockerel. Already crowing.
Black Cochin - (2) Both two weeks old and sexed as pullets. (Fingers crosses.)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The planning.
The accomplishment.
The teamwork.
Chicken personalities.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Genealogy & History
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Family of four. My son is 11 and my daughter is nine. My husband has zero experience with poultry, or livestock. My daughter is all in! We also have three whippets.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I’ve lurked around here for years. It was time to join!
