Hi everyone, I’m Gemma. New to chickens I hatched out 3 large fowl hybrids last month and have 4 Plymouth barred rock in the incubator one hatched and eagerly waiting to see what the others will do. I have 3 lohmann Brown pullets as well. I grew up on a farm with cattle, sheep, geese and ducks so not new to poultry just chickens.
I live on a croft in Sutherland, the Scottish highlands with my partner,2 daughters, Hugo the basset hound x JR, 2 Highland ponies, a Shetland pony, 25sheep and now 7 chickens. Always fancied hatching chickens as hatched ducks when I was younger and loved it. Plus it’s so educational for my 5 year old daughter, our 3 older chicks are hers and she takes to do with all their care.
Just hoping to be able to learn a bit more and discover different breeds suitable to our climate and life with a hands on family.
