Hello, My name is Erin and our family is just beginning our chicken journey.
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We are very new to chickens and got our first 5 April 22,2020. We were given two more June 5th.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
7
(3) What breeds do you have?
3 Rhode Island reds, 2 speckled Sussex and the 2 new ones are mystery chicks, possibly a Rhode island blue and either a silver Wyandotte or Easter egger they were bonus chicks shipped to a friend.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are fun to watch. I love their different personalities
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Reading, crafting, spending time with family
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a pediatric neurology nurse. my husband and I Have 3 kids, one dog and one cat, and 7 chickens
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D reading about how to take care of my chicks and being a worried chicken mama. 😁

Welcome to BYC. Your job sounds hard, but rewarding. I was a chaplain at a big world reknown hospital for a while, it was not easy- but I wanted to help people when they were suffering. I am sure you and your kids will get a lot of fun out of keeping a flock.. as well as the delicious healthy eggs. :)
