Me and the wife just started raising chickens this year, end of March early April.
We got a dozen chick's, 11 hens, 1 rooster that include isa browns, rhode Island reds, a Easter Egger, and black austalorps.
The flock is over 15 weeks now and the rooster starting to get feisty, scared us both when he first tried mating with the hens since he'd never shown any aggressive behavior before and we didn't know what the heck was going on lol.
We also got 2 rabbits which we might breed, still not sure about that yet.
The chickens have been doing so well we've been considering expanding our flock and adding another couple dozen since we are raising for both meat and eggs.

We have not considered Quail yet, are there any issues with them flying away when they get older?
Our rooster is pretty laid back and will let you hold him, but never seeing chicken mating behavior or was scary the first time lol.
