(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We are totally new to chickens. My great aunt had chickens while I was growing up but they were "working" chickens and not too friendly. I've wanted my own since.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Started with 6, but one chick died in the first 24 hours. So we have 5 that are 3 1/2 months.

(3) What breeds do you have?
Silver wyandotte, Polish, Sapphire Gem, Cuckoo Maran, Sapphire Olive Egger

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I can watch them for hours and they're very easy to care for.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening and cooking - I like to experiment with both.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 teens and love to camp.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I feel like I've been reading BYC posts FOREVER. I guess it pops up a lot in my web surfing.
