(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I'm not brand new. Had a flock of Speckled Sussex and English blue orpingtons for a few years but sadly lost them to a persistent predator that pulled my coop apart. I moved and saved up for a larger, more sturdy coop and run and now I'm back at it.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 8 hens. Just sadly rehomed a cockerel that was wonderful with adults and chickens, but would attack my 18 mo unprovoked from across the yard ☹.
(3) What breeds do you have? I have one smooth Cochin, two frizzles, an OE, a lavender Ameraucana, one blue Ameraucana. Yesterday I acquired to birds that I think may be whiting true blues.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I just like to watch them wander around the yard and give them treats. Chicken therapy.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Houseplants, being outside, spending time with my daughters, etc
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have a husband and two daughters, 6yo and 18 mo. They love spending time with the chickens.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Mostly from google searching breeds. I joined years ago but haven't posted in a long time. I came back to see if anyone had any ideas about the breed of these two new birds and someone clued me in about whiting true blues
