Hi Leah, sorry about the losses. Hope some beefed up security will help prevent future losses (predators tend to come back to where they found food before).
Hello, Leah, and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
Very sorry for your loss. It sounds like your survivors are in shock. They will recover eventually. Good luck predator-proofing your setup.
Hello Leah. It's tough to lose so many. Please post pictures of your setup and maybe the folks here can help you improve your security so this doesn't happen again. So sorry for your loss.
Welcome to BYC Leah, so very sorry for your losses. Unfortunately everything LOVES to EAT chickens. It can be a full time job preventing that, unless you have a Ft.Knox of a coop and run. Please check out the predator threads for ways to safeguard your flock.
Good Afternoon all! My little lady is doing a lot better today, she has come out of the coop and is eating her layer feed again. I’ve been spoiling them with their favorite treats and their coop & run is predator proofed, with hardwire mesh running 6 inches into the ground and their coop raised about 2-3 feet up! They were attacked in a mobile run so we’re going to put up some cameras and try to find ways to get rid of foxes. Deciding whether to buy a few pullets next month or to wait until spring to raise some more from little chicks. Taking this one day at a time. Thank you for all your kind words, welcomes, and advice
