Hi, My name is Gina and my husband and I have, what we hope, are 8 new hens. Still pretty young but so far so good. We each have had chickens before but it has been a little while. We recently purchased and moved into our home in a wonderful rural area and thought "Why not!" We got a good deal on 8 chicks and went home and built a nice little hen house for them. With the super nasty weather and their young age, they are just staying inside right now. But they will soon have their own fenced off area and we will be letting them out into our fenced yard when it is safe and they learn where to go at night. I don't think there is ever too much knowledge to share or things to learn. And I enjoy seeing how others handle their chickens. So here I am. Ready to learn and share I hope.

Thanks!!

Welcome to BYC, Gina! Enjoy your new hens :)
Thanks, Swamphiker!! I am super happy to have my girls. I've anted chickens again for a long time, but I was not in an area that I felt I could give them a good enough life. But now, I think we can so I got what our area set as the limit. Plus 8 is more then enough for two of us. Right now I am just trying to get them to understand that I am a safe person and they can trust me. I have been able to hold and love on two of them with a little regularity so far. And finally figured out names for each of them!! So I am pretty excited ... as I am sure my reply has indicated.
:)
