Hello, I'm new to this site and raising chickens. I had 7 beautiful chickens unfortunately 1 was brutally murdered by something. My husband thinks a cat. It's so devastating. Her name was Molly.
I have named them all and they follow me, sit at my door and are staying to let me pet them more often.
What can I do to keep them safer? They really like to free range but now I'm thinking they should be sequestered in their run with full walls and roof.... Or become house chickens.

The best thing is give them a large, safe run to live in. Free ranging comes with losses, which I am sorry for your loss. I just lost one a week and a half ago by hawk. My favorite of course. Welcome to BYC!
