Hello all you chic-a-bees. Newbie here.
Look forward to learning and sharing chick stories.
I live in North Carolina. We've had chicken's for several years. Neighbors dog got three last year and a pack of dogs got 3-4 the year before that. Possum got two this year. We started out with 14 but only have one hen now and she's pretty old.
I got some fertile eggs from a friend and made my own incubator. Tomorrow will be day 6. I'm a little concerned because the temperature reached 110 today for about 5 hours. Do y'all think they will still hatch? 😭

Thanks,
mamaSherry

Hiya Mama Sherry, welcome to BYC! :frow

Yikes, I'm afraid that high of a temp for 5 hours reached the embryos and most likely killed them as that's 10 degrees over. So very sorry! Even if they all didn't die, they'd stand a huge chance of having issues. You could candle them and see if you see any movement though.

If you just caught it, Metzers has tips for how to quickly cool down the embryos but a full 5 hours that high, I'm afraid it's just going to be a sad result anyway.
