Hello! It’s been a while since my family kept chickens, so I’m excited to get plugged in for some insight and expertise!
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My family kept chickens when I was a child, and my grandfather kept a full yard of poultry until the last few years. My husband and I just got our first chicks to share with our 3 year old daughter.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 6 females that are supposed to be less than a week old.
(3) What breeds do you have?
They’re supposed to be easter eggers.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
There’s the eggs, of course, but also the chance to share the experience with my daughter. I intend to homeschool, so the learning opportunities are great.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Crochet, sourdough, writing, home improvement, video games, reading
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Google. I found the forum several months ago when my husband and I first started talking about possibly raising some hens, but I joined today due to concerns with my new chicks.
