Hello, I purchased a package of Recover 911 for my chickens and this website is on the box.I’m fairly new to chickens. My oldest 4 I have had for over a year and a half, I had to rehome my rooster as he was 2 much for my ladies. I am still dealing with 2 that have not grown their feathers back, I thought the recovery 911 would help them but I have a couple questions. First, can I give it to all my birds? They range from over a year and a half to 3 months old. Second, do I only give them water with the recovery in it or do I also continue to provide clean fresh water so they have the choice?

No it’s not a police scan. It’s supposed to help chickens through weather changes, molting and feather pecking

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Your 911 Recover is fine for all, but I'd recommend giving it every other day, as the sole source of water, and alternating with fresh water. I believe that's a product akin to Hydro-Hen or Save-A-Chick.

I presume the missing feathers are from the prior rooster, not from feather picking?

Higher protein will help with their feather growth. You can try feeding them a little bit of higher protein treats like scrambled eggs, tuna in water, a few mealworms or black soldier flies, etc., but you may want to consider switching to a 20% protein all-flock crumbles or pellets for them. You'd have to provide a separate container of oyster shell, though, as that is lower in calcium than layer feed.

We're glad you're here!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
You can use the Rescue 911 as you would any other electrolyte or probiotic. Give it for a day or two during times of extreme stress. Otherwise they should have fresh clean water.

The feather damage is only going to rectify itself when the birds start to molt the damaged feathers out and replace them with new ones. Just wait. It's going to take some time.
