we are a family of 4,and curretly live in Pennsylvania. We want to start raising our own chickens mostly for eggs and to give our children the experience. (although Mom will probably be doing most of the care). Any advice???

The only advice I can think of is get a calm breed. Since your children are going to be around them. Also I think they are much more enjoyable.

I think Sex links, Barred Rocks and especially Buff Orpingtons are nice.
