I guess I'm suppose to introduce myself, so hear it goes! I'm a mom of 3 under the age of 4 (we lucked out w/ a set of twins) and we are trying our hand at raising layers. We go through a TON of eggs, so thought it would be fun, hopefully save $, but most of all a great experience for our children. So we started w/ 6, 2 each of isa brown, barred rocks and ameraucana. One of our barred rocks died, we think it got poked by one of the others because it was bleeding w/ a puncture wound on the chest...otherwise it had been fine. We are concerned that one of our ameraucanas is a cockerel, but not sure how to tell. They are about 6 weeks old now and starting to look more mature. We just finished our coop and are excited to get them in it...it was quite a chore, but worth it! I'll try to post photos soon, if that's the kind of stuff you do on here...I'm new to a message board like this!
