Hello,
My name is Joanna. I have been a happy owner of a Pekin Duck for over 4 months. She just started laying this week. My fiance has actually been wanting chickens for a while now but I got a duck instead. He is really jealous, lol. Anyways, if we ever do get a house with a bigger yard we will probably buy chickens to fulfill his dreams. I am still new to owning a duck and hope to gain more knowledge from this forum.

Thank you for the welcome Mahonri.
I just finished reading the stickies from the New Member Introductions and found this template to help with introduction. I will fill it out now. =]

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes I am new to chickens. I also do not have any chickens currently as stated above. I do have one duck.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 1 duck. No chickens yet.
(3) What breeds do you have?
It is a Pekin Duck. We are thinking of getting silkies, leghorns, and a few other types of chickens though I do not recall the other breeds names.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I found out about this site when browsing for information on ducks and chickens. This was before we got ChaCha.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I have a few hobbies. Most of them deal with art. I love to sketch, paint, and sculpt. I also love to work with animals and have done volunteer work at a few places that rescues them.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am currently a college student. I have several pets other than ChaCha. These include 2 dogs (mini poodle and pit bull/boxer mix), 1 cat (ragdoll), 1 lizard (bearded dragon), 1 gecko (leopard gecko), and tons of fish (1 10gallon fish tank and 1 100gallon fish tank).

Welcome to BYC. I am new to this forum too but is has tons of info. Watch out when you get chickens--they are very addictive. I started out with 5 and now have over 30 of various breeds.
