Hi, I live in NC. I have 3 guinea fowl and about 35 chickens. I am new to this site and thought that I would introduce myself. I am thinking of trying my hand at incubating eggs but not to sure about it yet. I have always just let my chicken hens hatch out their own but have heard that this isn't the best idea with the guinea fowl.

Hello and welcome to BYC from Ohio! I don't have experience with guineas, so I can't advise you there, but incubation is fun. Having both broodies and incubating myself, I'd prefer the broodies, but incubation is fascinating, and it's fun for the kids to see as well.

A lot of times guineas don't necessarily make the best mothers or broodies even. So, that's one of the reasons why a lot of guinea owners use incubators. We use incubators, as well. In fact, I think we've only had a guinea successfully hatch out their own eggs twice, and only a couple keets made it to adulthood. Plus, they don't tend to pick the best spots to go broody.
