Good morning, my name is Sage. I live on the NY/Pa border.
An older young lady, I live in the country and try to live as much like the old days as I can.
No TV! Just Netflix thanks to my son. I have a new puppy after losing my beloved other dobe...a schnoodle!
Entertaining lil thing.
Anyways, down here in the hollow I have had meat chickens, rhodies, barred rocks, and some others over the last 20 years.
I had a huge hen house built out back but the doggone minks would come in no matter how tight I'd make the house and kill em all. I gave up.
Then..
This year I was sent some guinea keets...a mistake you see. I had cancelled the order, gotten a refund too due to ill health.
Well what can you do, you get the call, you scramble around for the stuff needed and presto keets in an aquarium haha.
My husband came home and drug the old mini stallion shed out from the field to just behind my front trees by the barn
Cutest thing was made up from a 5x6 horse shed. I put dog kennel panels around it and by 2 wks the keets were out.
Now at 12 wks they are running huge and free doing what guineas do. I love em. watching them is fun and I definitely want more!
THEN...
I kinda sorta came into 16 baby bantam cochins. This time I used the puppy pack n play til they were 3 wks old and recently put them in the keet house. So far so good. Everything I read about bantam cochins says I am gonna love these sweet gentle birds.
Thus my coming here to learn. NO predators have bothered the house in the front YES!!
I know how to use a gun if needed.
So hi, sorry for the ramble, glad to be here.
Sage
