Hi everyone. Today my family got approved to raise backyard chickens- we are the second family to get approval in our city! I'm absolutely stoked.
Friday, we go to pick up our two ladies, 12 week old calico bantam cochins. We are in a suburban area, and do what we can to eat from our yard. I know this is NOT an ideal egg breed, but we can't wait to use chicken poo compost on our veggie garden.
I work at a holistic veterinary clinic, but I am just learning about chickens. Luckily, one of our doctors is also getting backyard chickens this spring, and is committed to learning about them, and offering her services to the hens of our metro area
I have read a lot of information on this site, and am excited to be a part of it.
