Me and my boyfriend bought hatchlings from our local hardware store on April 1st, and have been hooked ever since. We love our girls an unfortunately our coop was attacked just a few days ago. We are very grief stricken and only have 2 girls left. I joined today to write and read about other chicken enthusiasts and get our spirits back up. The surviving Barred Rock and Americauna are recovering well and we hope to have another flock soon.

Hello and welcome....so glad you joined BYC

:( Sorry about losing your hens. I learned the hard way too, now I build my coops so even humans cant get in :)

Good luck to you and your hens in their recovery. And hope you can add some new girls soon

! Great to have you with us! Sorry to hear about your losses - it happens to all poultry keepers at one time or another. Hope you get another flock going soon!

from California, sorry about your loss. If you have chicken wire on your coop, I would suggest switching it out with hardware cloth, which is a very strong mesh wire.

Thanks for the support, we're looking for more secure solutions and we'll be back on our feet soon. But otherwise our 2 girls are doing well and are cozy in their recovery pen, think they're enjoying the pampering!

Hello and welcome beesanddeesfarm. I built my roost about 4' of the ground and they have to fly up half way to reach the ladder to hop up the rest of the way. So far so good. Hope you are able to secure your area soon.
