I do not have chickens, yet. But I joined this thread because I like to do a lot of research before starting anything new.
I live on a 0.14 acre lot (I know, small) in town. My "yard" is/will be all edible with some native plants mixed in. I am working on my wood/hog wire fence now for the back yard inspired by this fence in Portland, but with a green coating instead of black.
I plan on getting three hens, no roosters allowed. And the hens will be free-ranged with a coop to hide in or go into at night.
So far I have a lot of "cover" for the hens in the back yard. Quite a few well-established diabolo ninebarks, a few willows, and a couple of trees.
Right now, My research is for the coop itself, so please bear with me as I may be asking a lot of questions
