Jjmcmurray is a husband and wife team. We're McMurray's, but no relation to the Murray McMurray hatchery (that we know of). We are chicken virgins, just got our first flock in April and quickly fell in love. We spend as much time as possible with our fine feathered friends, and they seem to enjoy us as well. Our first roo (a black. Jersey giant) will dance and sing along when the wife sings to him. All in all we currently have 17 chickens. 2 easter egger hens, 2 polish hens, 2 swedish flower hens, 2 lakenvelders, 3 RIR, 4 red sex links a mystery chick and of course Duke, our giant. We live in a rural mostly low income county in central Va. Our goal is to use to give all the eggs we can't eat ourselves to local families who need assistance and to be self sufficient.

Welcome to BYC, you two!

Sounds like you've got a good variation in your flock, and Duke sounds like quite the rooster!

That's a very nice cause you're supporting by giving away those eggs. Keep up the good work!

Would love to see a video of your wife singing and the roo singing back &dancing. I bet it would go viral in hours - maybe land them both a trip to some Pet talent contest

I don't think anyone other than duke would enjoy my singing, but if I can get a video of it I will. He's not quite himself right now, but once he's better I'll try
