Hello! I've been sneaking around the site for a good part of year now but have just been given the OK to keep chickens from my landlord about a week ago. I picked up my three Rhode Island Red (I heard they're a good starter breed) pullets yesterday and I thought I would introduce myself officially. I am still trying to think of good names for them (so i'll take suggestions.) I know in the future I want three goats named Wynken, Blynken, and Nod but these are LADIES.

:welcome Glad to have you join us! Rhode Island Red's are a great breed. I have 7 of them. I used to have almost 40 of them. They are beautiful and are great layers. I have names for all 23 of my chickens. I'll post some of their names for you for suggestions for your girls. :D

Hi and welcome.
I named my girls Scarlet O'Cluck and Curry. lol. My rooster is Mr. Cluckles. Get creative with it. I did read on here, I believe it was here, anyway, that if you do plan to use them as a meat bird then to stay away from names or name them food names.

Greetings from College Station, Texas. It's fun to think of names for the girls. I named our first three Easter Eggers after the Dixie Chicks (Martie, Emily & Natalie). If you've got Rhode Island Reds, there's a temptation to give them names after shades of red such as Ruby, Rosie, Rusty, etc.
