Hi there everyone
I am new here! I have 4 Golden Comet hens we got from a co-worker of my husbands, and we have 6 chicks that arrived 3 weeks ago. We are new to the chick thing because the hens came as older pullets. The chicks are so much fun!

Welcome to BYC! When you introduce the two groups make sure they are around the same size, and separated by wire would be ideal. Best of luck to you!

Welcome to BYC!

Congrats on the new chicks! They are a lot of fun to raise and will bond more easily with you. You won't be able to mix them into the flock until they are about 4 months old. Do it over a the course of several weeks, keeping the new chicks behind wire or a in a cage. After a few weeks with this type of introduction, the mixing generally goes smoothly. If you throw them directly in, all chaos will ensue and you can have injured or dead birds. So do it slowly.

Good luck with your new flock and welcome to our flock!
