I am a new member from Trafalgar, IN. I have 6 chicks: 2 white leghorns, 2 black australorps and 2 barred rocks. We are not sure that the rocks we bought really are….so we will have to wait and see.

They are around 7 weeks old. This has been their first week outside and they are loving it!

Thanks! What is a good age to do that?

I've seen folks post pictures of fairly young chicks trying to determine the breed. I would think that at 7 weeks, they would have enough defining features to at least make a guess. Especially if they are Barred Rocks. I raised them for over 6 years, and always felt they were a distinctive breed.

Good luck with your new flock, and have lots of fun! Chickens are fun!
