My husband and I inherited 2 hens and a rooster that were part of the deal when we bought our farmhouse this time last year. Since then, I have been lurking around the message boards collecting knowledge from its wonderful members. Today I finally decided to join! In the past year we have adopted a few girls going through henopause, braved the craziest winter, raised a brood of 16 chicks, lost 6 of our beloved babies to a predator, and just recently added 9 more little ones to our flock. We started with 3, and are currently at 18 fluffy butts with no plans on stopping. I'm wondering where the best place would be to post pictures of some of our newest babies? They look like mixes, but I would love some help with ID.

Welcome! Fluffy butts! Too funny. Glad you joined. Nice chick brooder. We love ours. Looks like you're taking excellent care of your birds.

Now. 3rd pic from top, the black with white bars, looks like a Barred Plymouth Rock pullet. I love rocks. We have a few. The red one next to her could be a Red Star, also known as Sex Links. We have a few of these as well.

5th pic from top, the black one, could be an Australorp. She looks like our Sonya. Sonya lately has developed a white, almost iridescent spot on her ears and her feathers glow fluorescent green in the sun. See any green?

@chikkenfriend we named the back one Dahlia. She came from the barred rock bin at the feed store, but as she got older we realized we had an Australorp on our hands! She was a pleasant surprise. I love her big brown eyes and the green hue to her feathers.

Also, we love the brooder too! Feels so much safer than the heat lamp.
