My name is Amanda and I live in the panhandle of Texas. We have a wonderful new flock of 4 laying hens, 2 juvenile turkeys and 8 baby chicks. I love having fresh eggs and have used the site to answer many of my questions. I am excited to be a member.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. How far are you from Amarillo. My wife and I were both raised in Texas and we used to refer to Amarillo as "Funk country" because it was the home of the Funk wrestling family.) Some of our family were huge fans of Dory Funk, Jr. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

I live 30 miles outside of amarillo. This is a great site. It has so many wonderful resources when starting out!

Hi Amanda, welcome to BYC!

Sounds like you have a nice flock going with chickens and turkeys. What breed(s) of chickens do you have?

This is a wonderful place to chat chicken or talk turkey. If you haven't seen it yet, there is a forum for turkeys and you can find it here:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/20/turkeys

There's also a fairly new section for "other fowl" in the Learning Center too you may enjoy:

Good luck to you, nice to have you join us!
