Hello. Nice to meet you.
I'm brand new to chicken raising. I was thrown into it thanks to a family member suddenly bringing home a bunch of 1 week old sale chickens without any prior notice or breed information...or much preparation. They brought them home for the purpose of meat and eggs. I ended up doing all of the raising and caretaking from the beginning. It's been an unexpectedly good experience and I've grown pretty attatched to them. They're very fun to watch and definitely have different personalities.
I've been working hard to keep them happy and healthy and to learn everything I can. So far so good. They're about 9 weeks old now, and the cornish crosses got a coop and went outside a couple of weeks ago. They weren't too sure about coming out of their coop back when I took pictures, but now they excitedly dash out and flap around when I open the door in the morning. I then proceed to lead a chicken parade since they follow me around. The rest are still inside for now.
