Just joined this group and hoping to get some good discussions on all poultry(I hate that word as I am choir and cannot see my birds as something to eat)also have duck eggs hatching now under a broody. One has died mid hatch and I'm worried about the other 2 as I don't know what went wrong- any ideas??

Welcome, glad you have joined us. I know what you mean, my 5 hens are my pets and are quite special spoiled " children".

Sorry, but I have no experience with hatching. You may want to post the issue under hatching forum or ducks forums and maybe someone with experience can help.

Here's hoping the other 2 survive.

Sad ending discovered my broody is the culprit she just killed number2. Have sent the 3rd egg which is tapping away still to my neighbours incubator maybe at least there it has a chance. No more hatching for me unless I get an incubator of my own.

Hello and Welcome To BYC! Sorry about the ducklings, some broodys are just not good mothers. Hope the remaining egg makes it.
