Hello,
I am Victoria and our girls are now 3 months old. They love it when I get home and open their coop to let them free range. I am not yet comfortable leaving the coop open and letting them run "wild". Our yard is fully enclosed on 1/2 of the acre we have with a 6 foot high fence and the girls are still just fluttering at about 3 feet.
I suppose soon I will let them wander more as they seem to head to the coop when it get dark out on their own.

Best to all,
Victoria

Very nice to meet you Victoria. Welcome to the BYC flock. Are you in a high predator area? I ask because even though your kids can't make it over a 6 ft. fence yet, predators probably can do so . I know the temperature can get quite hot , so they would benefit from a great deal of shade. Natural or manufactured shade, frequent changes to cold water and yummy treats like watermelon can help them stay hydrated.

Welcome to BYC, Victoria! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

My flock LOVES to free range in the yard too! It sure is fun to watch them scamper about and look for bugs.
