Though I have been a lurker for quite a while. Just a quick question Rooster & Cockerel - one and the same. American - rooster, and Cockerel - UK?????????? Not that I want to appear stupid or anything....;-).

Yes I think Rooster is American and Cockerel/cock is UK but I don't think it really matters which one you use :)
I'm in the habit of calling them cockerels but sometimes I call them roosters

I got some funny looks when I called them cockerels, so I'm playing it safe and saying roosters now. LOL
 
I have to say, I kinda like Roosters as a word

I always thought cockerel is a young rooster under a year old? And don't worry, there are no silly questions! That's what we're here for.
