Just introducing myself, my name is Beth and I had recently bought a house with my fiance, Tom. A nice place with quite a bit of land that we get to play with. We're sharing our home with our two dogs (Tetsu and Tikaani), two cats (Safyre and Torch) and quite a few geckos (bout 40 of them).
Now that we do have a yard of our own, we have been discussing eventually having chickens and maybe a duck or two. Tom misses having chickens and ducks, as he had raised quite a few of them before we met, and thought it would be nice to get back into them. I've never had any birds bigger than a parakeet, but thought it would be fun and great to raise up a few chickens and have the joy of not going to the grocer for some eggs/meat. For now, I am doing tons of research to find the right breeds for our needs, as well as to get ideas for making our own coop and run. I am also hoping to find other people that live nearby and make some chicken loving friends along the way.
