HELP! 2 DAY OLD CHICK SWALLOWED PLASTIC BB

M 2 day old chick found a red plastic airsoft bb in the yard and swallowed it as fast as she could! Is there hope for her or is this a death sentence because of her age? 😢Thank you for any information you can give me. Even if it's bad news.
If it was a big one then I would say euthanize the chick so there is no suffering 😭

If she swallowed it right down, she'll probably be fine. If she was gasping with it stuck in her throat, then I would worry.

You might want to be sure she has grit available (if you didn't already make sure of that.) That way the little plastic ball can get ground up better when it reaches the gizzard.

Would a little olive oil or coconut oil help her, maybe just a drop? She has been offered baby grit since hatched and has been on the ground picking things up. Thanks.

The oil might not hurt anything, but I do not think it would help, either.

Chickens swallow all sorts of small, hard things (rocks/grit, plus dry corn, whole grains and seeds, bugs, oyster shell for laying hens, and so forth.) Their bodies are designed to get hard things into the gizzard, and eventually ground up and out. If the chick seems fine at present, I really think it will continue to be fine.

Grit wont even touch plastic.... Just wait & see...a couple drops of mineral oil ( a baby laxative) on some food might help it passšŸ‘šŸ‘cheap at publix in the baby isle...like$1
