HELP!!! we have a 2 month old Buff Orp in a 7 chicken flock, she is living with a 1 month old black australorp seperated from the other 5... we are using the "see but don't touch method' to merge the flocks... we got her from a semi-local breeder very recently. So we let the chickens outside, the small ones in a little pen, and she was walking low to the ground with a sort of limp... she was eating grass, but i was worried. then came the bloody poo. then i picked her up and immediately quarantined her. while i was holding her she closed her eyes and drooped her head. but she opened her eyes when i put her down for a sec. when i picked her up again, her legs seemed to be pointing upwards, and shaking. then her head started trembling. we are going to clean the cages right now and we hope we can save her!!!

pros: no more bloody poo that i know of, no more shaking, she tried to stand up and she could for a bit, she can get around, she is eating.
cons. her legs and toes are stiff, like, she can't really bend them.

P.S. would the other healthy chickens eggs be safe to eat?

I know my local tractor supply carries it try your local feed store also keep checking the other chicks if that chick has it the others will probably get it too. I'm not saying it definitely has cocci but that's what comes to mind when I hear lethargic and bloody stool

yeah... it seems to me that she just doesn't have control of her legs. she went into the splits twice and it didn't seem to hurt her. now that she is in a cage she doesn't seem very lethargic, because she only closes her eyes if u pick her up. she is constantly making soft chirping sounds... thanks for the input!

she mainly lays down, she often kneels to get food, and will occasionally try to stand or even walk. the way she kneels makes me think she has no strength in her thighs.

what kind of litter are you using? shavings I hope and not newspaper as they slip and hurt themselves on newspaper. What are you feeding them? It also could be a genetic thing but at 8 weeks old she should be pretty healthy and out of the fragile stage... very interesting how are the rest of the chicks looking?
