We had a bad storm roll in Texas through yesterday and once it passed, I checked all the birds to make sure they weathered the storm alright. I had locked them up in the coop for safe keeping. Everyone looked normal & fine this morning. However, this afternoon I went to check on them & I found one 22 week old pullet walking around with her eyes closed. They were all wormed a month ago with Safeguard. No other chickens seem to be effected.

She will open her eyes, but just for a moment, then she will sit back down & move her head from side to side like she is hearing something (but with her eyes closed) & she also has this weird spot just at her nostrils. I went ahead put some diatomaceous Earth on her & tried to give her mash but she is not interested. She's the most flighty of my flock & very alert. She did take some water. I have separated her & put some electrolyte for chicks in the water & left her with the mash (chick starter & whole egg mixed together). Her crop is empty. Thoughts? She's not sneezing or having trouble breathing that I can tell. No other injuries that I can tell. She hasn't pooped yet for me to see.

The spot of the nostril is out of focus, hard to tell what that is. It may just be a place where she's rubbed it on fencing or a feeder, a Papilloma or perhaps Fowl Pox...

She's moving her had side to side? Any infection in the ears? Any lesions or canker inside the beak?

You put DE on her - does she have lice or mites? What's the DE for?

I would work on getting her hydrated. The electrolytes are fine to give, if you need to, syringe or tube the fluids into her. Once hydrated, offer her wet soupy feed.

What did you deworm with?

Here’s the recipe

See if these pictures help. Yes, she is moving her head side to side but this app won't allow me to attach a short video?? I just DE because I wasn't sure what might have caused the lump around her nostril. I don't see any lesions in her beak. A, I don't see any evidence of mites. Safeguard. I followed the the instructions on dosage posted here on byc. (Fenbendazole .23ml per pound once a day for 5 days orally/syringed- the entire flock)

No other chickens seem to be affected. She is caged alone. I syringed her with sugar water combo mentioned by previous member waited for her to rest but she didn't seem any better. Checked her this morning & syringe feed sugar water again..She has not started laying. She is one of 30 chicks that I got from Meyers in Feb 2024. Honestly, I'm guessing she's a black sexlink (solid black with purple sheen, black/slate legs, single comb). I dont see any evidence that she's about to lay either... so I don't think she's egg bound... perhaps a blockage?? Her crop currently feels like she took some of the crumbles that I gave her. I cant feel any hard masses or knots in her abdomen.
