Ok, I have 21 chicks, 2 months old. They seem to all be very healthy, except one.

This chick for the last month has had issues with passing stool, and feces drying and blocking the chicken's cloaca. Lately it had been almost drippy and the cloaca appears very prolapsed. I can (gently) squeeze it and allow it to pass stool when this happens, but the chick seems to be lethargic lately. Still eats and drinks, and when I take it outside, it's very mobile and hunts like normal. just can't seem to pass stool. But it is roughly 40% smaller than the rest. (All the same age.)

Any home remedies? Anything I can do to help it?

NOT willing to go to a vet. Don't have the money, and not a fan of vets in general. I don't want this chick to suffer, and if it's a genetic defect I would rather put it out of it's misery than make it suffer.

Appreciate the help.

Hi Tomang, I have no experience with this so until someone does chime in try doing a search for threads related to constipated chicks, there are plenty here to read up on.

I had found a few that were similar, but not many that were the same. I'll search some more.

From reading other posts the first thing to look at would be present diet, could parasites such as worms be a problem?
I doubt it...I've only been taking them outside in the last week. They have been getting the basic Blue Seal Antibiotic Chick Food. I would think if it was a parasite the others would start to show symptoms. I have been giving them gravel tho. sent while swerving into the wrong lane...

What is she eating, any change in diet(other than going outside)? For the pasty butt problem wash her bottom, apply vaseline to vent area, stops poop from sticking to her. Does she have access to grit? Is she drinking water on regular basis? Try giving her scrambled egg,see if that helps.

She seems to have no problem drinking, does so consistently. As far as eating, grit has been offered since day #2....and until going outside diet has been just the already mentioned antibiotic chick food. Only time she won't eat is when she gets backed up. Right now she basically has no feathers around her vent. Been applying antibiotic ointment (only because I don't have vaseline) and that does seem to help.

Today when I put them outside, she was the first one to eat....first to drink...even found the first treat. (Worm.) Seems to have no problem moving around for the most part. Some days are certainly better than others.

I have never heard of feeding them scrambled eggs.... is that safe? Seems kind of sadistic in a Hannibal Lector kind of way, lol

Eggs are loaded with vitamins, minerals and protein. Also good for diarrhea. Look on forums for feeding chickens eggs, lots of information. My 10 weeks chicks love scrambled eggs.I do not give them eggs all the time, but as a treat every once in a while. As long as they are cooked(cook them so that chickens do not develop the taste for raw eggs)there will not be a problem. I just scramble eggs up in a bowl, microwave, scramble again, then when cool serve them over there chicken feed,or without feed if i have one that isn't feeling well.
