i have had one chick pop 3 days ago and hatch fully 2 days ago now in the brooder happy, I candles the remaining eggs to fine only 1 could possibly have something it it, opened up the others and I was right there was nothing but yolk in them however the remaining one I made a little hole to start to see if anything was in it and to my amazement there is!! I can see it moving!!!question now is what do I do?? I have put it back in the incubator in a panic, do I just leave it or help it?? Ahhhhh

What I do is crack around the air bubble then leave it tap on the incubator and make clicking sounds at it that's how the mom chick encourages them I have found assisting chicks usually leads to dead chicks because hatching develops mussel they need to live but I'm not an expert and read allot and have to two hatches the first went bad the second not so bad 9 out of 13

ve been told that because I've made a hole that the chick will become shrink wrapped? Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Or are the chances that this is is going to die?? X

Shrink wrapped happens if the humidity is too low when the chick hatches. The membrane hardens and the chick dies. This often happens if you open the incubator and a chick has started pipping. If you can maintain high humidity as you make a hole (which is very risky) the chick should not get shrink wrapped but keep in mind that too much humidity will drown the chick. The chances of a chick dying when you assist are always very high. Make sure to have the humidity levels right.

When I made the hole I genuinely thought the chick was dead already due to being overdue so have put it back in the incubator and the humidity is at 80 is that ok?

you didn't say how big of a hole you made.
I don't see any advantage to making any more holes.
the original pip hole is plenty big for air.

80% is high. 60% is OK

If the chick was really 3 days late, it already is more than likely in distress already.
usually late chicks do not have the vitality to hatch normally.

the only time I ever "help" is if I can see that the chick's head is shrink wrapped.
they have to be able to move their head in order to hatch..

what I do is take the egg and moisten a paper towel and moisten the membrane . it will become soft enough for you to remove JUST
ENOUGH so that the chick can move his head.
DO NOT straighten the neck. the chick will do it in due time.
if you straighten the neck, you might as well dig a grave..

In short, let the chick do all the work.
you will have a healthier chick because of it.
