Electrolytes you say... I too just had a batch of cornish crosses that I gave Electrolytes => https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=489407

I would suggest next batch, I would leave out any water additives.

sorry for your loss.

well its official. all 5 of my poults are gone. i am so sad and disapointed. i thought i had everything covered, vit and minerals in water, dipped thier beaks a lot, other chicks to show them to eat, kept the brooder warm on one end cooler on the other. i guess i didnt pay enough attention to make SURE they were eating, even tho i swore i had seen a couple of them pecking at the food, and had seen a few drink. i just brought the last one in the house he looked ok, so i opened his beak and helped him eat a bit of feed and then gave him sugar water and some water with the electrolites, but even just 5-10 minutes later he was stretching out and gone. i just feel awful to be hatching out these little babies and not being able to keep them alive, kind of feels wrong and im so nervous about the next two batches that i have already set. i dont know if turkeys are my thing

oh boy, i read that, i think maybe i over did it. i couldnt figure out how much to use in a quart jar so i put a dash in..ugh. well the last poult i SWORE was dead, he wasnt even breathing! is alive. he just flopped around. kind of scary he literally like came back to life... still not looking good. im going to dump all the waterers and just put fresh water in.

I do keep all my babies in the house for the first week so I can monitor them. After that they go in my big brooder in the barn.

Sorry for your loss. I too had a bad experience with the additive too. I had a batch of turkeys drop like flies until I figured it was the water mixture. I was able to save most wants I gave them pure water. I might be wrong but I think the dose is 1/4 tsp for a quart. I never have used it since that day. If I need to give something just gatorade or pedialyte and some sugar.

well my last poult has made it thru the day, i cant believe it. he is still so flat and lifeless, allll he does is sleep. i force feed it often, and dip its beak in plain water and let him drink. then put him back and he sleeps. so many times i thought he was dead because he hardly breathes! im not sure what else to do for him, im affraid he wont make it thru the night because a few times i find him on his back and flip him back over, if this happens over night i wont be there to help him. any suggestions on what else i can do to help him hang on?

Try putting it in a knit watch cap (edges rolled up with maybe folded wash cloths on either side of poult so it can't flip over). Good luck!
