We just recently got 5 Pekin, I think they are just over two months old. I was looking at the tail feathers this morning and it looks like we may have 4 drakes and 1 female. I know that at some point that would not be good for the female right? What should I do??

Well you have 2 choices get more females at least 3 and up for each drake or find homes for 3 drakes and add 2 more females for the drake you keep.. Drakes are extremely hard on female ducks, they need to spread that love around or one lone female will really suffer.

:welcome

I'm going to take them out of their house tonight to get them to quack to make sure but the tail feathers curve up pretty high. In order to guarantee you have females do you have to get them from somewhere older? Sorry first round of ducks!

If you are going to order females only you can go through some hatcheries that will sell only females. You might try craigs list or feed stores that have places for people to post for sale items. Some animal shelters also take in unwanted or dumped ducks. Where are you in the USA? here in NC we have Carolina water fowl rescue they rescue wild and domestic and adopt out also.

If you go with ducklings then they would have to be at least laying age before put in with drakes which is around 4-5 months of age.

We are in Oxford, MS - I really don't want anything to happen to the poor ducks, especially the female if she's the only female out of them all

Then check out the places I posted. It can be a challenge to find extra females so ordering might be the way to go after exhausting all the other areas.
If you order ducklings just keep the female separated from the drakes by fencing so they can be together but not where they can abuse her. They don't mean to abuse it's just those dog gone hormones are out of control. Once the ducklings get to laying age they can all be with the drakes. you can even introduce the duckling to the female earlier once the ducklings are old enough to be outside on nice warm days. Of course it will have to be with supervision since ducklings can't hold their own against adult female duck either. It takes time to integrate but if done slowly they will all become 1 flock.

Miss Lydia - here is a video of one of the quacks - I'm thinking male, right?
