Help..7 eggs, mommahen was just killed..day 13..

The LG will do at this late stage, but no they are not the best. However, for what you need it for, it will do fine and you can use it later as a hatcher.

Thanks..do you have another one you recommend? I am willing to go a little further for another better option..

Since you are not in a position to order one, go with any Hovabator product. Hovabator and Brinsea are the best. Brinsea at stores are WAYYYY overpriced compared to ordering online, so get a Hovabator. And welcome to the madness!!

oops that's right! i forgot all about the no air circulating.

The Brinsea company will overnight products and they have the best prices on their own incubators. The overnighting really raises the price a great deal, but if you were interested in getting into incubating anyway....

im so sorry for your loss i can tell you how i did it but you will prob think im nuts lol. i use a electric frying pan put a dish rag in it an put it on 100deg. an a boul of water in it an put the lid on it you can regulate the temp with the vent holes in the lid you have to turn them 4 times a day or thats what i did. i had mine in there for 11 days 2 egg and both hatched. i have got a sportsmen now but i will never forget the the time i hatched eggs in a pan insted of ffrying them in it lol . best of luck to you i hope all goes well for you.

It is because of the way the chick develops and hatches from the egg. the large end of the egg should be where the air cell is located. The chick should be oriented towards the large end by the time it's ready to hatch, it will push it's beak through the membrane on the inside and begin breathing from the air cell, at this time in the process it can chirp even though it's still completely in the egg! If you take a bright LED flashlight and go to a very dark room, where there is no light. You can candle an egg to see what's going on inside.... have you done that? You should be able to see the air cell and may be able to see the chick moving around inside depending on how dark the shells are.

Oh man. I have an incubator and live in Houston but it's got eggs in it or I'd help out

Hi guys and good morning..eggs are still in my make shift box..temp through the night was right at 100+ degrees..had a roof of foil made to keep draft out..moistened the towel they are laying on before I went to bed...hope it is working. I just got up again to check and it is keeping steady..and I just turned them as well.

Will head out today and pick up whatever incubator I can find..if worst come to worst I'll get the LG one..but hoping to find a better one at some feedstores.

Galanie..Thank you so much for thinking of us..I think will work it out.

Yes,. when I candle the eggs we have various stages of baby in there..a few have lost of bloodvessles..a few had big "fetuses" moving about and I see airpockets on all. I am leary of the outcome but know this is the best I can do with the circumstances given me....we are all hoping for the best but somewhat planning for the worst, if you know what I mean.

Maybe not the most expensive or more sophisticated incubator out there, but we got a 92% hatch rate (11/12) on our first incubation with the LG still air. I don't think that even the "best" incubators out there can claim that. For what it's worth, I think it worked great! Keep us posted!
