I live on small urban lot and purchased 3 Buff Orphington "hens". Turns out one is a cockerel (small-ish, no feathers to speak of at 2 weeks, protective, much more aggressive with me and other birds...)

I purchased for pets & egg-laying only. What are my options in finding home for "Killer"? Local feed store says wait to be sure but cocks don't crow for 5-7 months, right?

Also will purchasing a single, week-old chick be accepted by other 3 now? Too late?

Thanks for any help with ideas.

If it does turn out to be a rooster you can always Graigslist it. 2 weeks seems a little young to know on some chicks but I am not sure on the breed, not one I have in my collection. I just added a newbie to a brooder of 2-3 week olds. Just keep an eye on them for pecking and make sure it is getting food and water. It is kinda funny the smaller one likes to try to hide under the older ones bellies. I haven't had any issues with them being together. Good Luck!
