Hope i can get advice on this. I have 10 hens older than a year. a guinea fowl somehow came into our yard a week ago and wouldn't leave. I felt sorry for it and let it join my hens.. some hens are fine and others kind of stay away from him. He seems healthy, likely came from another home but i asked my neighbors and no one claimed the thing. is it ok to keep him together w the hens- he seems to be nice so far....

Do you know for sure it is a male? If so, it may eventually worry the hell out of your hens. If it is a female, everything should be okay. Either way, guineas are great at detecting predators of any kind which is a plus.

It would be best for the guinea to rehome it to someone that already has guineas. They do best in large groups of other guineas.

i think it behaves like a male b/c I used to have a rooster with them and there are some faint charecteristics I see. I dont know anything about guinea fowls other than general info I read online. I include a picture

thank you. It does seem to be quite comfortable w the hens which leads me to believe he may have lived with a mixed flock...I definitely will see if someone that has them and would want him. He was so persistent when he came in our yard and just would not go. poor thing.

It probably lost its mate to a predator. They don't like to be alone.
