Help! A Rooster or a Hen?

Here is a shot of its back. Someone sold us 2 Dominiques as hens and about a month later they were crowing and we had to get rid of them. Now he brings home another Roo and im scared it will break his heart, because he loves his chickens. Just cant have a rooster.

I have a hen that has a long tail sometimes it is so hard to tell when they are young, wishing you luck on finding a hen, for your son I would not try to trade one with out him knowing something tells me he will figure it out, maybe find a local person who has hens that are laying and see if you could trade with them or maybe list a trade on craigslist or a local paper. I thought I got a roo and ended up with a hen I am having the opposite problem I want a roo but can't find one. good luck.
