Help! Accidentally cut my chicken's claws too short. Now it won't stop bleeding!

Hello all,

I was cutting my 3 year old Ameraucana hen's claws when I cut it too short and it started bleeding badly. With the help of a friend I put some flour on it, didn't stop. I brought her inside and put some QuikClot on it, didn't stop. Now, about five minutes later it's only gotten worse and I'm quite frightened. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks,

Yes, dip it in kwikstop or cornstarch and then apply pressure with a papertowel. Probably need to hold for a couple of minutes.

Glad she is better. Might help to get some red cell in her since shes lost a good amount of blood. I believe its 1 teaspoon per gallon of water.
I have found it is easier to grind the nail down slowly. Any pet grinder works.
Just keep her inside in a small crate for a few days.
Just incase she hits it and it starts to bleed again.

Is there a subside for for red cell? I don't have any at the moment.
