Help adding more gold, less black to Golden Laced cochins

I recently bought a trio of bantum Golden laced cochins. The roos is almost solid black with minimal gold on his chest. The nens are better, but still to black, if I cross with some buff cochins would that help increase the amount of gold in the birds? is the black in the laced birds the solid color like it is in the barred birds? or is the black the lacing and the birds base color gold?

Yes I believe the buff would help add to the gold in the lacing.
You don't happen to have any extra GL cockerels do you? I am looking for a Gold Laced Cockerel or a Buff Cockerel.

I don't have a GL roo but I know someone that does. She also has buff. She doesn't have a internet but I can pass on the info. She is located in Iowa
