I recently acquired 2 silkies. These birds are meant to be pets. I have tried integrating them into my small (4 birds) flock and while no one is actively hurting the silkies they are getting bullied. I want to separate the silkies into a small coop and run of their own and need to know what I can house them in. I have been looking at dog houses with roofs that raise up so I can access the interior for cleaning and egg gathering. Would this be good? Will 2 birds be able to stay warm enough in there in the winter? My 2 silkies are also trying to go broody. Can I let them do that in the space I make them or do they need a separate space just for that? Would a larger rabbit hutch be better than a dog house?
Any advice appreciated. Thank you

The good news is that the majority of Silkies don't like to perch so they make it easy, no extra construction. I'm not sure if just two will be enough to stay warm in a CO winter but they will pile on top one another to bed down. I would think a large dog house would be ok for them. You can let them brood in the same spot.
