My 6 month old rooster, has several issues from egg.. Blindness (I think he can see shadows) will scratch but can’t pick anything up... I feed mash by hand 2-3X a day. His comb tips are starting to turn colors, purple or black not sure yet. I live in Virginia, it has not been cold here and he has a warm coop. I just had a special one built so he can walk in and out on his own... we finally nailed that this week (Proud Mama)
After he eats he opens his mouth and makes a noise- he squints his one eye and when he blinks , his lid is very foggy😥 he such a great guy.. seems happy..
Any suggestions? I am a newbie to the chicken world.

He is really pretty. I don’t have any suggestions. I will say my rooster has black marks on his comb that I assumed were pecks from other chickens.
Thank you!! He is only with one hen who is pretty good with him, the reason I didn’t get more hens. The weak will get picked on.

Is he a black copper Marans? Do you have any closeups of his face or eyes? Will he look for feed on his own if it is moistened mash and in a large deep bowl? Large combed roosters may sometimes have darkening of the comb tips and the back of the comb with excitement, temperature changes, or other reasons. Usually it doesn’t mean anything serious. If it gets dark allover, that means he is not getting enough oxygen to his heart.

Thank you!! I don’t know what he is, no he waits for me to feed. I always leave crumbles, he tries but don’t think he’s really getting anything. He will always have some kind of issues, is there any antibiotics I can get on line? His poop is so inconsistent... good then runny:. Where I live, I have no access to a vet that will see him, unfortunately.
