So we got her based soley on the fact my wife like that she looked "hawk"ish. So no feelings will get hurt. I've read tons of Americana and EE threads and there's definitely some passion among owners. We were told she is an Americana, but after reading here and 1000 pics I can determine for certain... Help me out ;-)

So she's going on 14wks or so. We got her a month ago and her friends picked most of her tail off, but with our happy flock she quickly grew it back as it's now mostly filled in.

Also our friends and farm are certain she's a hen, but I guess these breeds are super difficult to determine. What do you guys/girls think?

In a couple pics she has her wings away from her body as our Florida sun is a bit warm. She's starting to finally get a fluffy butt. Again she's aprox 14wks if not a week or two older.

And as always, thanks for taking the time to respond. Have a great day/night ~~

Hello!

I would say that she is indeed an EE, not a pure bred considering her colors. Her beard is very beautiful though!
Here is a cool link showing the standards of the breed:

Again, what an amazing bird you have! She does look a little bit like a hawk

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond !!! So out of curiousity, what's the "beard" and what about her are colors non-breed standard?

Yea she really looks hawky in person, her colors and pattern are really what we liked about her when picking her out . We have a lot of red shoulder hawks and ospreys around here, and she just kinda looked like them, being totally different then the other 6 girls we have.

She would be considered Silver variety.
Beard= the feathers below her bottom beak. I call mine bearded ladies.
