So, I was away for a week and my friend was taking care of my chickens; which he is very good at, but was not able to spend a lot of time checking that the chickens were healthy. When I came back, I found that one of my Silkie hens, Junty, had a large swelling over one eye, but she could still use it. Since then I have noticed her eye slowly getting pushed back until she could not use it. Two days ago I found her in the morning with blood all over her feathers and many feathers missing on the side of her head with the swelling. So I then seperated her, and since then she has not changed much, though occasionally the stuff in her eyelid bleeds (I say stuff because you cannot see her eye any more :( ). I did some research yesterday and it looks like it must be an abscess, but I wan't people's opinion on this case, and if it is an abscess how I would go about draining it. She does not seem to be in pain, and appears to be in perfect health otherwise.
Here are some photos, sorry, I didn't rotate all of them:

Oh poor thing. Do you suppose she has developed a respiratory infection, then was pecked in the eye, or just pecked very badly, and it abscessed? If you hadn't seen blood, to me, the picture looks like coryza. Does she have any cough, nasal secretions, gurgling, wheezes, or a bad odor about her head that would indicate coryza? MG can cause swelling of the eye, as well as ILT. A respiratory infection would respond more to Tylan 50 injectable 1/4 ml in the breast muscle daily for 5 days for a bantam. An eye abscess from pecking would need an antibiotic from the vet probably--something like cephalexin, amoxicillin, or baytril. Gallimycin or Penicillin G from the feed store may work, Gallimycin (erythromycin) might be best because it treats both respiratory and wound infection. Here is a link about the respiratory diseases: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/ps044

Thanks, I have not noticed any signs of a respiratory infection, she has not coughed or wheezed etc...
I don't know if she was pecked originally, but as I said, a few days ago she must have been pecked because she had blood on her, and it has gotten a little bit larger since then.
I haven't smelled anything bad on her, other than the blood which I have not gotten around to washing off yet.

I would try the erythromycin/Gallimycin or get Procaine Penicillin G injectable, and give 1/4 ml daily into breast muscle for 4 days with a 20 gauge needle, but only put the needle in a 1/2 inch when injecting. Shake it well and warm it up out of the refrigerator to give it. The best option, of course, is to get antibiotics from a vet since they could tell if it is abscess or respiratory.

Haha. Nice thought, but I was hoping for helpful information.

Have you thought about lancing above the eye and I am talking about a very small cut with an exact-toe knife with a puncher 1/16 inch should be enough to drain and relieve any pressure on the head ....

How is she eating ....

Well I saw another thread that talked about lancing etc., but I was unsure because her swelling is so large.
I am not sure what her eating habits are currently, as I have been away for most of the day the last few days, but her feeder has not gone down much, if any in the last 2 days.
