I have 2 broody hens that had been sitting on eggs for about 23 days that ended up not hatching. I bought chicks today from the feed store to stick under them instead. They didn't take too well to them. They started pecking them. I think maybe I made the mistake of doing it during the day? Maybe I should try it again tonight? 🤔 What do you guys think? You think they'll forever reject the babies now? Also.. what breeds do you think I may have. 6 baby pics below. 😊

Not sure on breed. Yes you made a mistake putting them under during the day. Mommas think that they are still hatching. You should put them under a little later at night. After the Mom has been asleep. I do think the babies age is playing a factor. Chickens are not stupid. The mom may realize that those babies are older then hatchlings. Therefore they may reject them.
